Raymond Everett Smith

June 9, 1981 — April 3, 2025

Brownsville, Kentucky

Raymond Everett Smith, age 43, of Brownsville, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. Born on June 9, 1981, he was the cherished son of Charles Smith of Leitchfield and Judie Swift Farris of Caneyville.

Raymond served his country with honor as a Medic in the U.S. Army from April 20, 2006, until November 9, 2012, completing two tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. His unwavering spirit, commitment to service, and compassion for others left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

A lover of life, Raymond found joy in simple pleasures—cheering for his favorite football team, the Indianapolis Colts, strumming his guitar, and sharing melodies that resonated in the hearts of those around him. He held a special place in his heart for his family, particularly his great-nieces and great-nephews, showering them with affection and wisdom. Raymond's bond with his beloved dog, Kaiser, showcased the warmth and loyalty that defined his character.

Raymond is survived by his parents, Judie Swift Farris (Walter) and Charles Smith; his sister, Christie Douglas (Bro. Jimmy) of Morgantown; a brother, Charlie Smith of Louisville; and a loving extended family, including several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends who will carry fond memories of his spirit in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his brother, Walter "Tookie" Farris.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has been selected, and his ashes will be lovingly scattered in the places that brought him joy and peace.

Raymond’s legacy of kindness, love, and service will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
