Mary Smith

Mary Joyce Smith, age 72 of Caneyville, passed away Monday, December 28th 2020 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green. She was born March 29th 1948 in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of John Charles & Hallie Louise Ritchie Penn. She worked as a line supervisor for Sun Products and was a member of the One Truth Community. She was a devoted mother who loved taking care of her children and she also enjoyed working crossword puzzles in her leisure time. She is survived by her three children, John Barnette Smith, James Oval Smith, & Beverly Rackley (Shane); one grandson, Joseph Lane Rackley; one sister, Barbara Johnson (Russell); three nieces, Mary Roseberry, Ann Johnson, & Helen Hill; and two furbabies, Gus & Hershey. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Charles Penn. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Sunday, January 3rd 2021 at the Caneyville Memorial Chapel. She will be laid to rest in the Welches Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Sunday at the funeral home. All who wish to honor and remember Mary in person at the visitation or funeral are required to wear a mask or face covering while inside the funeral home for the safety of all those in attendance.
