Marlene Tarrence, 76, of Horse Branch, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018 at her home surrounded by loved ones. Mrs. Tarrence was born February 12, 1942 in Butler County, Kentucky to Jesse Forrest Swift and Helen E. Gary Swift. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Anderson Tarrence. Mrs. Tarrence was a homemaker and a member of the Caneyville Church of Christ. Devoted to her family, she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed riding four-wheelers. She was also a quilter and she especially loved gardening. She was well-known for her large, beautiful flower garden. She is survived by her daughter, Candy (Billy) Corley, of Horse Branch; a sister, Melinda Miller, of Louisville; two brothers, Charles (Nancy) Swift of Louisville and Darrell (Judy) Swift of Mt. Washington. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jessie (Michaela), Matthew (Brittany) and Ben, and four great-grandchildren, Lyddi, Cash, Caroline and Kase. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, October 19 at the Caneyville Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jarrod Jacobs presiding. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until the time of services. Burial will be in the Craig Cemetery in Ohio County. Caneyville Memorial Chapel is honored and privileged to have been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Tarrence.
