Jonell Payton

Jonell Payton, age 81 of Horse Branch, passed away, Thursday, February 25th 2021 at her residence. She was born February 8th 1940 in Grayson County, KY the daughter of Corbert and Molly Young Geary. She was a devoted housewife, loving mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, canning the vegetables from her hard work, and especially enjoyed preparing Sunday Dinner for her family. She is survived by her husband, Chelsey Richard Payton; four children, Jeff Payton, Rita Decker (Paul), Gail Fraim (Robbie), & Marsha Hayes (Sean); four grandchildren, Lorie Clark, Drago Fraim, Haley Haycraft, & Caleb Hayes; five great grandchildren; one sister, Cassie Joines; and one brother, Michael Geary. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Edith Curry and two brothers, Jimmy & Ralph Geary. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 1st 2021 at the Caneyville Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until service time on Monday. All those who wish to honor and remember Mrs. Payton at the visitation or funeral are required to wear a mask for the safety of all those in attendance.
