James Blakley FlenerBlake Flener who was born in Welch's Creek, KY the son of the late JW and Claudia Flener and a retired air force master sergeant, died peacefully Saturday, November 17, 2012.Service: Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home, Caneyville, KY. Visitation 4:00 to 8:00, Tuesday, November 27th and funeral service at 11:00 Wednesday, November 28th. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.Memorials: Gifts in BlakeaEUR(tm)s memory may be given to the Gregory B and Pamela G Flener Scholarship fund at Murray State University (106 Development Center, Murray, KY 42071-3313).Blake received his MBA with an emphasis in finance from MSU in 1977, earning his undergraduate degree in technical education from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1974. He served nearly 22 years in the U.S. Air Force and two years in the Kentucky Air National Guard between September 2, 1952 and August 31, 1976. During active duty he was engaged in electronic signal intelligence and also taught electronics to entry level technicians. He finished his career as an electronics technician and an ILS instructor for the Federal Aviation Administration.Though he had not lived in Kentucky for several years, he held a special place for Kentucky and MSU. Childhood memories stay with us all, and itaEUR(tm)s those people and places in Kentucky that he remembered the most. He was preceded in death by his children Gregory Blake and Pamela Gail Flener. Survivors: His wife of 34 years, Jahron (Ronnie), Brother-in-law Thomas Sellars and his wife Mary Ruth and their daughter Allison, Mother-in-law LaVerne Bierman and many relatives and friends.
