Ira 'Lewis' Farris, 82, of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, October 14th, 2015 at the Meadowview Health and Rehab in Louisville. He was born on Sunday, July 9th, 1933 in Caneyville, the son of the late Pirtle and Sudie (Taylor) Farris. Ira was a Marine Corps veteran having served as a mechanic on airplanes while stationed in Japan and Guam. Upon discharge from the Marines, he went to work at General Electric Appliance Park where he retired in 1989 after 33 years of service. He was also a member of Clearview Baptist Church in Leitchfield. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Eva (Whitely) Farris of Louisville; two sons, Michael Farris (Natalie) and Timothy Farris (Kerstin) both of Louisville; one daughter, Lisa Mullins (Joe) also of Louisville; one brother, Aubry Farris of Torrance, CA; two sisters, Robertha Nothern of Russellville and Mary Alvey of Leitchfield and three grandchildren, Brad Mullins, Craig Mullins and Alayna Farris. Ira is preceded in death by his parents. The family has chosen cremation with a memorial service Sunday, October 18th at 2:00 pm CST at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home. Bro Chester Shartzer will be officiating. Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home Sunday from 12:00 Noon until time of service. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Clearview Baptist Church.
