Eugene Parks, age 71 of Leitchfield, passed away Tuesday, February 21st 2022 at his residence. He was born July 22nd 1950 in Richland, Kentucky, the son of Cecil E. Parks & Dorothy Marie Woosley Parks. Eugene was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era and after serving honorably, he went to work as a carpenter which would be his lifelong career. He was a very creative person who could make anything he wanted once he put his mind to it. When we was not working or creating new projects, Eugene had a love for the peacefulness of fishing, an activity that he spent the majority of his leisure time pursuing. He is survived by his children, Pamela Lawrence, Michael Phelps (Christina), & Eugena "Gina" Kimmel; nine grandchildren, Travis Lawrence, Kyle Lawrence (Claire), Molly Lawrence, Jonathan Phelps (Courtney Smith), Christopher Phelps, Trevor Cardwell, James Embry, Devin Kimmel, & Madison Kimmel; four great grandchildren, Oliver Lawrence, Connor Phelps, Serenity Phelps, & Melody Kimmel; and three sisters, Della McCloud, Dimple Oller, & Beverly Smith. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Parks; two sisters, Evellein Payton & Virginia Hamilton; two brothers, Maxie Park & Dewayne Parks; and one son-in-law, Bill Lawrence. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday (February 28th 2022) at the Caneyville Memorial Chapel. He will be laid to rest in the Curtis Woosley Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Caneyville Memorial Chapel is both honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Parks.
