Bro Pirtle Cummings, 72, of Caneyville, passed away while preaching the gospel Sunday, January 4th, 2015 at the Slate Bank Independent Church in Edmonson County. He was born on October 15th, 1942 in Grayson County, the son of the late Enos and Donna Bell (Embry) Cummings. Bro Pirtle preached for 32 years and was a self-employed carpenter. Bro Pirtle is survived by his wife of 52 years, Madgleane (Stinson) Cummings of Caneyville; one son, Brian Cummings of Big Clifty; one daughter, Tammy Daugherty (Mike) of Caneyville; four grandchildren, Dustin Cummings (Carmella), Felicia Hart (Adam), John Daugherty and Matthew Daugherty all of Caneyville; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Cummings of Leitchfield and one sister, Lois Sipes of Caneyville. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers, Oscar, Hesbie, Junior and Glen Cummings.Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon Wednesday, January 7th at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro Wayne Napier and Bro Joe Brooks will be officiating. Burial will be in the Welches Creek Cemetery.Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Tuesday after 10:00 am and Wednesday from 9:00 am until time of service.
