Betty Sue Woosley

August 24, 1928 — January 31, 2024

Betty Sue Young Woosley, age 95, died peacefully in her sleep January 31, 2024, at Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center in Leitchfield, KY. She was born in Caneyville, KY August 24, 1928, the daughter of William Bethel and Era Bella (Green) Young.


Betty Sue graduated from Short Creek High School in May 1946 and married her husband Noil Woosley in June of the same year. Noil and Betty Sue had 4 children together and had been married for over 50 years when Noil passed away in January 1997.


Betty Sue was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was a lifelong member of the New Hope Baptist Church where she was the secretary/treasurer. Betty Sue was also a member of the Caneyville Homemakers Club for over 75 years. Anyone who knew Betty Sue well, knew that her favorite hobby was keeping up with the local news. She also enjoyed making candies, pies and other treats everyone loved. Betty Sue spent her last few months of life at the BeeHive Assisted Living in Leitchfield, KY where she enjoyed making new friends.


In addition to her parents and husband, Betty Sue was also preceded in death by her brother William (Bill) Stinson Young and 2 twin sons Terry and Jerry.

Betty Sue is survived by her other two sons Eddie (Frances) Woosley of Pine Knob and Sherrill Woosley of Caneyville; also, one nephew Joel Young of Orlando, FL. Betty Sue is also survived by five grandchildren, Ben (Tonya) Woosley of Glendale, Matt (Keri) Woosley of Cave Creek, AZ, Jill (Dean) Line of Elizabethtown, Jessica Woosley of Elizabethtown and Jordan (Chaitu) Malempati of Bowling Green. Betty Sue also had 8 great-grandchildren Kaylan, Connor, Katie, Raelee, Harper, Bryce, Kalie and Gavin.


Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday (February 10, 2024) at the Caneyville Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday (February 9, 2024) from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. Burial will take place at New Hope Cemetery.


The Family would like to extend special gratitude to the Doctors and Nurses at Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center and the staff at the BeeHive Homes of Leitchfield for taking such great care of Betty Sue in her final few months of life.
